CF is the abbreviation of CompactFlash® a small device for the data mass recording, removable, with the dimensions of : 42.8x36.4 mm with the thickness that varies according to type:
- CompactFlash Type I with thickness of 3.3 mm.
- CompactFlash Type II with thickness of 5.0 mm.
Currently the CompactFlash have a capacity that can vary from the 16MB to the 12GB, even if their maximum theoretical capacity could arrive to around 130GB.
These cards can also develop different functions as: Ethernet net card and wireless card, serial card, Bluetooth card, modem, phone and USB card.
The data transfer speed goes from the 16MB to the second, to the actually 66MB to the second, thanks to the new 3.0 version of the technical specification.
